The Week of September 29th - October 3rd

A Highlights magazine form is coming home from school. Even if you are not going to purchase anything, please sign the form and return it. Our class gets free items just for getting the sheets returned. Thanks!

Science – The class will learn about vascular and non vascular plants this week. The students will be involved with an experiment showing how food, water, and nutrients are carried throughout a plant. Please ask your child about it later in the week.

Social Studies – The students will learn about immigrants and their new lives once they reached the United States. Please begin reviewing the vocabulary at home (chapter 5). This will help your child.

Spelling - The spelling test will be Friday. The list will go home on Monday. Please help your child study for the test.

Language Arts – We will spend this week going over the main idea of a paragraph. Students will practice some paragraph writing.

Reading - The class will begin the novel, Charlotte's Web. Students will practice their predicting, visualizing, and story mapping. In addition, we will work on character traits. Vocabulary words will be sent home on Monday. The vocabulary quiz will be Tuesday, October 7th. Please help your child review these words

Math – Students are expected to know their multiplication and division facts upon entering fourth grade. We will begin multiplication and division in chapter 4. Please have your child practice their facts daily. This will only help your child.
We will continue our study of addition and subtraction using algebra (chapter 3). There is a lot of information to know. Please have your child review their daily lesson. In addition, there will be some notes handed out this week. Please have your child review this sheet.
