Thank you so much to all the parents who helped to plan and organize our Halloween Party. It was a great success. In addition, many of you sent in a snack, a treat, or drinks. Thank you so much! The kids enjoyed it all!

The Social Studies committee is looking for two parents who have an education or history background to be involved in the adoption of new Social Studies textbooks. You would have to meet with the committee and provide input choosing our textbook for the coming years. The Social Studies committee will be meeting once every other month for the next two years. Please email mpellin@ccsd66.org if you would be interested in joining the Social Studies committee. Thank you!

Science – Students will look at different stages of an animal's life cycle.

Social Studies – We will begin our study of the Southeast. Please look for the Southeast Map to come home later in the week. There will be a Southeast Map Quiz on Thursday, November 21st. Spelling does count and there is no word bank. Please begin to study the map. This will only help when the quiz arrives.

Please visit the blog of your child's Reading teacher to find out information for Reading, Language Arts, and Spelling in that classroom.

Spelling – The Unit 10 spelling test will be Friday. The words will go home on Monday. Please have your child review the words for the test. There will be no pretest this week or next week due to the four day week.

Language Arts – We will spend the next few weeks writing Thanksgiving stories from the turkey's point of view. We will then type these stories.

Reading - We will continue working on Making Connections (text to text, text to world, and text to self) and finding the problem/solution while reading, Farmer Schultz's Ducks. The October reading party is scheduled for Friday. Please help your child remember their reading folder this week if they have enough days to make the party.

Please visit the blog of your child's Math teacher to find out information for that Math class.

Math – The class will learn about multiplication and division equations, explore inequalities, and find rules for patterns. We will have the chapter 5 test “next” week. There is a lot to know. Please begin reviewing this with your child.
