With the end of trimester 1 drawing near, I will be taking grades through and including Friday, November 13th. All grades taken the week after will go into Trimester II.
Scholastic Book Orders will be sent home on Monday. They are due by Friday. You can either send cash or write one check for all orders payable to Scholastic. This is a cheap way to build your child's library. If anyone wants a book kept for a Christmas surprise, just let me know.
Spelling - The lesson 11 spelling words will go home on Monday. The spelling test will be Friday. Please help your child review for the test.
Language Arts - We will continue with Narrative Writing through Thanksgiving. If your child is writing at home, please help "edit" their paper for spelling and punctuation. Thanks! In addition, we will continue our study of nouns (chapter 2).
Reading - The class will concentrate on some short lessons involving words in context, synonyms, antonyms, and homonyms.
Science - The class will begin chapter 2 in science. Students will study heredity and how parents pass traits to their offspring.
Social Studies - We will continue our study of the Southeast (chapter 6). A map quiz over the Southeast will be Tuesday, November 17th. There will be no word bank and spelling counts. Please start reviewing now. The chapter 6 social studies test will be Friday, November 20th.
Please visit the blog of your child's Math teacher to find out information for that Math class.
Math - The properties and the concepts of algebra are used to evaluate expressions and solve multiplication and division equations (chapter 5). This can be difficult. Please help your child as we move along the chapter. The final test of the trimester will be Friday, November 13th. In addition, students should still continue to study their facts at home.
